About the EATA Secondary School Distinguished Service Award

(Formerly the EATA Excellence in SSAT Award)
The Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) Secondary School Distinguished Service Award recognizes an EATA member in the secondary school setting who had made an outstanding contribution(s) to the profession in that setting. Candidates must be nominated by an EATA member in good standing and must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration:

Candidate Qualifications

Qualified candidates for the EATA Secondary School Distinguished Service Award:

1) Must be an active, retired, or deceased EATA member from either District One or District Two.

2) If active, must have an athletic training license in good standing in the state in which they are employed or practice as an athletic trainer.

3) If active, must have an NPI number.

4) Unless deceased, must have an active or retired BOC credential.

5) Must have been a BOC athletic trainer a minimum of 15 years.

6) Must be, or have been, a member of District One, District Two, or a combination of both, for a minimum of 15 years preceding the nomination.

7) Deceased District One or District Two members not meeting the 15-year BOC and District One or District Two qualification may be considered for the award if their work brought distinction to District One and/or District Two.

8) A nominee is eligible for re-nomination, and must be re-nominated, if their previous nomination was unsuccessful.

9) Current members of the EATA Executive Board are not eligible.
